Installation, updating and removal of add-ins for Microsoft Outlook

Installation

The distribution packages of our add-ins are packed in archive files of the ZIP format so you will have to unpack them before installing any of our add-ins.

Microsoft Operating systems, starting with Windows XP, have built-in support of ZIP and installation of additional software to use such archives is not required. It is sufficient to double-click on the file in the distribution kit (for example on the file outlook_nntp.zip) and the archive will open like a regular folder.

Windows NT4 or 2000 operating systems require the presence of an additional archiving program to work with ZIP-archives. Such programs include WinZip and CuteZip. If an archiving program is present, it will launch when you click on the distribution kit and will give you option of unpacking the archived files of the distribution kit in a specified folder on the computer.

The distributive contains 2 files:

ReleaseNotes.htm – A short description of the program and installation process
setup.exe – launches the installation wizard for the program

To install the program, execute the file setup.exe and follow the instructions of the Installation wizard Please note the following:

  1. Before starting the installation wizard, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word must be closed.
  2. The Program can be installed ‘for all users’ (‘For Anyone who uses this computer (all users)’) or ‘Only for me’). You choose type of installation in the third step of the installation wizard (the ‘Customer Information’ step). If the ‘For all users’ option is chosen, the program will not be added to the menu of "COM add-ins" and you cannot activate or deactivate it without reinstalling the add-in.

After the install wizard is finished, start Microsoft Outlook, and the First Start Wizard will appear, which will briefly tell to you about the program, where it is located and how to launch it. In last step of the wizard, the option to enter a registration code or to start the program in test mode is given.

Installation of plug-ins does not require restarting the computer.

Updating the version of a plug-in

Updated version of programs can be installed "over" the previous versions. This will allow you to keep all your current settings in the program and will not require repeated input of a registration code. Only the Mail Merge Toolkit add-in requires preliminary removal of the currently installed version of the program and warns about this necessity if an installed version of this add-in is found out on the computer.

Add-in removal

To remove an add-in, start its installation process again and choose the "Removal" option, or delete it through the «Installation and removal of programs» applet in the Control Panel of Microsoft Windows.

Before removing an add-in, close Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.

To remove an add-in through the “Installation and removal of programs» applet:

  1. Close Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.
  2. In the "Start-up" menu, open the "Control panel" and start the “Installation and removal of programs” applet.
  3. In the applet, find the program in the list of the programs installed on the computer, choose it, and press "Remove".
  4. Follow the instructions of the installation/removal wizard which will help to remove the product from your computer.

After the removal of a plug-in, restarting the computer is not necessary, but if the outlook.exe or winword.exe processes were not stopped – the installation wizard may require restarting the computer to end the removal process.
